It's all done and taken care of. The nice lady from Zion's called today and my background check went through just fine. I'm scheduled to start the new job on Monday.
Scary!
I'm going to miss everyone at my current job. It's been wonderful! Wearing jeans every day, laughing and talking, working and learning, and building friendships.
The final decision to take the Zion's job came after a lot of thought and prayer. Ultimately, we'll be in Utah for another two years, and while the compensation is something of a lateral move, the title, experience and position are a step up, which will help in finding a banking job back east.
Anybody who knows me knows how I deal with change.
Yes, that WAS me buying two cartons of chocolate ice cream last night...

Cricket
Cricket graduated from Puppy Class on Tuesday. I'm so proud of her! On command, she will sit, lay down, come, "touch" (put her nose on my hand), "watch" (stare directly in to my eyes) and "Leave It" (completely avoid whatever "it" is). Six weeks well spent. Before the class, she was beginning to drive us crazy with her non-obedience (I wouldn't say DIS-obedience, because she really didn't know she wasn't supposed to do it) that we had to do something. We found Handle With Care Dog Training was teaching puppy classes at the pound near our house and we signed up as soon as Cricket was old enough.
She still acts like a puppy, she still finds ways to get in to things she shouldn't, and she still tries to eat our ears... But it's SO much better than it was.
Onward and upward, Cricket starts her next Doggie class in a few weeks!

A Whim, A Kiss and A Prayer
Life is unpredictable.
The funny thing about it: We, as humans, create our own unpredictability.
Last Thursday, work was slow, and I was a little bored. I was poking around online, reading my blogs, comics, news and whatever else, when I found an advertisment for Zion's Bank checking accounts. With nothing better to do, I clicked. A few more clicks, and I was at the "Careers" page.
Again, on another (or was it the same?) whim, I applied for a position. Not expecting anything. Not hoping for anything. Not even really WANTING anything. Just curious. Just bored. Just... just what? Just on a whim.
That was Thursday. On Friday, I received a call from a very nice lady at Zions. Am I a real person? Am I everything my resume said I am? Am I interested?
I didn't think much about the incident over the weekend. The Husband was dealing with his own stress, the dog was sick, the apartment was a wreck... Too much to think about something random I'd done a few days before. I think I mentioned the incident to him. Maybe.
Monday. Work, read, talk, work, work, lunch, read, work, talk, laugh, work. Cell phone rings. It's the nice lady again from Zions, wanting to set up an interview.
I think this was the first point where I actually thought this might be serious. Yes, I knew that applying for a job was serious. I knew that it could change our lives, change our situation, change things. But I didn't think... Well, I was thinking now.
Tuesday I took a long lunch from my current job to go to the interview. I changed clothes in my car. I wore pantyhose and high heels. My palms were sweaty.
An hour and a half later, the nice lady from Zions called and told me they wanted to hire me for the position.
Holy cow.

Life the Universe and Everything
Since we've got the space on the interweb I thought I'd post a small update about what's been going on with us lately.
First off, we've got a dog. Her name is Cricket, and she is a Chihuaha. Now before you laugh, and ask my pooch if she wants some Taco Bell, she's actually a good little puppy. She's also the greatest form of birth control yet devised by man. She provides all the annoying little life altering things that children bring into your world, with the ability to put her in the kitchen and go see a movie.
I'm nearly done with school for the semester. At the end of this semster I will be a college graduate. Granted it's only an Associates, and that plus $.50 will buy me a newspaper, but its a start. its nice to have accomplished something after all these years of school.
As with most people we both hate our jobs, but what else is new.
Once I figure out how we'll post some pictures of us, and our pup.

Poor, and loving it.
Being poor is fun. Really, it is! You come up with the most creative things when you're poor! Gifts, dinners, date nights... They all turn out to be extremely interesting.
Take for example, last night's dinner. Talipia fillets, marinated in vinegar and honey, with a side of Spanish Rice. Granted, the talipia was dry and the rice was chewy, but who would have thought to put them together? It was a great combination! Grate the bit of cheese we have left over the rice, drench the fish in some soy sauce... Dinner was delicious.
My sister-in-law's birthday is today, and the Husband and I wanted to do something nice for her, but we're still low on cash. So, we came up with a great idea that would be great for both of us. The Husband and I are going to stay at their house with their three kids over night, and off our little apartment to them for the night. We'll watch the kids, bathe them, put them to bed, wake them up, give them breakfast and give the parents a full night off. They're going to chill-ax at our apartment, watch TV, probably go out for dinner, sleep in as long as they want, and we've provided breakfast stuff for them in the morning. Works out all around!
I just hope it works.... :-)
